The scheduling at the
Rome Open has been criticised by many in the previous days with veteran player
Alize Cornet sharing her thoughts on social media as well.
The French player has been on the Tour for a long time and has pretty much seen everything it has to offer. The final of the Rome Open was scheduled to begin at 19:00 initially but rain delays made it so it started at 23:00 local time. It finished after midnight and considering the circumstances, Cornet wondered why the match wasn't pushed back to Sunday.
It could have been pushed back so it started at a more suitable time to ensure bigger crowds and a better experience for anybody involved. It was pretty evident for a while that the match would be starting rather late due to the previous match not getting finished on time and being delayed by rain as well:
"A little sad to see that the women's final of one of the biggest @wta event of the season is starting at 11pm. Nobody in the stands of course, and not really cool for both players to start such an important match so late...Why not put both men and women's finals tomorrow?"
