Emma Raducanu has had arguably one of the best breakthrough seasons in recent memory, with the British sensation making history by winning the 2021 US Open as a qualifier.
The 19-year old took to social media to thank her team and fans, claiming they helped propel her to her current star status. Raducanu is ranked at a career high World No.19, rising several spots after reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon in June and winning the title at Flushing Meadows.
“Wow… that was some year 2 pics to sum up my 2021 seasonI want to say thank you & that I’m extremely grateful for your generous support,” Raducanu wrote on social media. “I’ve learnt many things at a fast pace on this incredible journey but all I can say is that I’m very excited & motivated for my next steps.
“I feel I can put in great work together with my team, with patience I believe we’ll get there.
“Huge thanks and big appreciation to my team & people who have supported me! This wouldn’t have been possible without you.”
The teenager recently appointed Belgian Torbin Beitz as her new coach, and will soon began preparing for the 2022 season. However, she will also make her first appearance on court on British soil since her US Open victory at The Royal Albert Hall in London on November 28, where she will take on Elena-Gabriela Ruse in an exhibition match.
