Tennis star @Petra_Kvitova arrived in #Ningbo this morning🥳. The two-time Wimbledon champion will be competing in the #WTA Ningbo Open. Get ready to witness her incredible skills on the court😉!
The 2023 Ningbo Open will be held from September 25-30 at the Yinzhou Tennis Center in Ningbo, China. The draw for the WTA 250 tournament has now been released.
The tournament has been held five times before but this will be the first year in which the Ningbo Open will be held as a 250 event, meaning that fans can look forward to seeing some big names of the tennis world play here.
The highest-ranked player is World No. 7 Ons Jabeur, who entered the tournament as a late wild card. She was recently disappointed after crashing out in the Round of 16 at the WTA 1000 Guadalajara Open in Mexico, where she was the top seed.
The Tunisian player will meet France's Diane Parry in the first round. They have met once before at Wimbledon in 2022, where Jabeur emerged victorious in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
This will be their first meeting on hard courts. If she gets past the World No. 98, Jabeur will meet either Tamara Korpatsch or a qualifier.
On the other side of the draw, second seed Petra Kvitova will begin her campaign against a qualifier. If she makes it through to the second round, she will face either World No. 177 Daria Saville or World No. 81 Yulia Putintseva.
Third seed Sorana Cirstea will play against American Claire Liu in the opening round. The players have never faced each other before, so it will be interesting to see how their abilities match up. If Cirstea succeeds in this match, she may face the new World No. 1 in doubles Katerina Siniakova.
Meanwhile, seventh seed Katie Boulter will take on wild card Vera Zvonareva. The winner of this match will face either Elina Avanesyan or Clara Tauson in the second round.
