Today will decide which player out of Sabalenka, Jabeur and Pegula will join Sakkar in the semi-final of the WTA Finals.
It's the deciding day for players part of the Nancy Richey Group as day five brings us two exciting singles matches including two interesting doubles matches as well. Sakkari is guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals but the other three players all have a chance to make it depending on the results.
The first match is between Pegula and Sabalenka with the second one is between Jabeur and Sakkari. Depending on how the matches go, different players will join Sakkari in the next round. Sabalenka will advance if she wins and if Sakkari wins.
If Jabeur wins against Sakkari in two sets she and Sakkari will move on but if she wins in three then Sakkari and Sabalenka will move on. The only way Pegula can advance is if she beats Sabalenka and if Sakkari beats Jabeur in straight sets.
If Jabeur wins even a set against Sakkari then Pegula is out of the competition even fi she wins. It's a rather complicated sequence of events for all the players involved but most of it will be known after the opening set. That match is set to be played at 21:30 CET with the second one coming at 01:00 CET.
