Just like her win over Elena Rybakina, it was
Aryna Sabalenka that suffered and ironically only Jessica Pegula who made her way through her singles match on Saturday at the
WTA Finals.
The semi-final between Sabalenka and
Iga Swiatek at the WTA Finals was suspended due to rain on Saturday with Sabalenka serving down 2-1, 30-30 on serve.
The doubles schedule also was completely washed out with Pegula set to play her doubles round robin conclusion on Sunday two days after it initially started throwing more fuel to the fire amid the Cancun chaos which has taken hold this week.
As a result of this, the Sabalenka-Swiatek match will be completed Sunday night, but the final will not be played until Monday. Pegula herself who saw off Coco Gauff on Saturday night could feasibly play three matches in a day in doubles.
So the tournament will now have an interesting predicament lasting until the week after.
