WTA Indian Wells Final Preview: Azarenka takes on Badosa

The BNP Paribas Open will see two fantastic tennis players compete for the crown of Indian Wells as Victoria Azarenka prepares to take on Paula Badosa.

The WTA Final is the first match to be played today with the starting time set at 22:00 CET. It will be Victoria Azarenka against Paula Badosa with both playing some stellar tennis to reach the final. Azarenka is playing the best event of the year and it comes at an event where she lifted the trophy twice. She loves playing her and the conditions suit her which should give her a bonus against Badosa.

The Belarussian also proved to be very mentally strong coming back from a set and break down against Ostapenko. Her other wins came against Linette, Kvitova, Sasnovich and Pegula. A key component in her game is her consistency and versatility allowing her to find solutions even in unfavourable matches. Her experience as a two-time winner is also a big bonus.

On the other side of the event, we will have Paula Badosa who has enjoyed a breakout 2021 season. The fabulous run here will allow her to break into the top 20 with the position depended on the final result. Badosa has played a brilliant style of tennis combining consistency from the baseline with a very balanced combination of offence and defence.

Her victories here have been impressive with wins over Yastremska, Gauff, Krejcikova, Kerber and Jabeur. She only lost one set in all of those matches but she also showed quite a bit of nervousness when closing out several matches. That might prove difficult for her against a steady opponent like Azarenka. Either way, she will need to bring her best if she hopes to win this even and so far she has been able to. The match starts at 22:00 CET and don't miss it, it's going to be a good one.
