WTA Race to Guadalajara: Badosa jumps to No. 8 as Gauff and Raducanu slide down

The WTA Finals are a very prestigious event with a lot of players still fighting for a place at the event. Four have officially qualified and they are Barty, Sabalenka, Pliskova and Krejcikova albeit the participation of Ashleigh Barty is still up in the air. She has neither confirmed nor denied her participation yet most reports mention her leaning towards not participating.

Number 5 is currently Iga Swiatek, Maria Sakkari is 6th, Muguruza is 7th with Paula Badosa now occupying number 8. The Spanish player jumped 11 spots to sit at number 8 which would send her to Mexico. Ons Jabeur is at 9 all four of those players are within 250 points of each other making this race a particularly tight one.

Points are scarce and any major result in the remaining events will be a huge step forward towards qualification. Several players are slowly dropping out of the race. Svitolina is far back with only 2500 points as is Coco Gauff who was 2380 and Emma Raducanu 2292. All three have had bad showings in the desert.
