The Madrid Open provided some unexpected results upon it's conclusion, with several stars exceeding expectations which led to them gaining ground on the table in the race to the WTA Finals.
Ons Jabeur was the most prominent mover on the list, as the Tunisian captured her maiden WTA 1000 title in Madrid. This led to her jumping 10 spots to rise to No.2 on the table, trailing only World No.1 Iga Swiatek in points accumulated this season.
Americans Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova also made big moves up the table, following strong performances in Madrid. Ekaterina Alexandrova surpassed all expectations by reaching the semifinals, allowing her to rise 18 spots to No.18 on the table.
