Iga Swiatek continued her dominance at the top of the WTA Ranking after the Madrid Open with the World No.1 extending her lead after downing Aryna Sabalenka who loses points due to not defending her title.
Swiatek now sits at 10,910 points, 3,412 points clear of Sabalenka in second spot. She heads to Rome next, a tournament she is known to love and so this likely will continue. The latter in comparison sits on 7,498 points. Iga Swiatek does not perform on grass either so if the Pole wins Rome and Roland Garros, it is likely she will sit atop for a long time.
Coco Gauff shifting up is more likely with the American missing the chance to do the ever so certain switch to World No.2 and she is on 7,313 points. Maria Sakkari dropped down to eighth this week which allowed Marketa Vondrousova and Qinwen Zheng to surge up. While Madison Keys had her best run of the year and is 16th in the ranking. She went up four spots. Mirra Andreeva also jumped three spots into the top 40 after her run to the Quarter-Finals.
