WTA Ranking Update: Leylah Fernandez up 17 spots after Hong Kong title as Qinwen Zheng back in top 20

Two of WTA's brightest stars feature heavy in our latest WTA Ranking Update for Monday 16 October in Qinwen Zheng and Leylah Fernandez who sealed titles this past weekend.
Zheng came from a set down to defeat Barbora Krejcikova in the final of the Zhengzhou Open to seal a second title of the year and to go alongside her US Open Quarter-Final. Days after becoming 21, she returns to the top 20.
She has jumped five spots in the latest WTA Ranking Update to No.19 matching her career high. While Fernandez has continued her resurgence with a first title since 2022 Monterrey at the Hong Kong Open.
She plummeted down to No.96 in the WTA Rankings earlier this year and is now up 17 spots to No.43 after sealing the title. Mirra Andreeva and Jasmine Paolini also have moved up to reach new career highs.
Katerina Siniakova moved up 25 spots to Number 60 and Laura Siegemund 22 spots to No.91, with the former losing to Fernandez in the Hong Kong final.
