The WTA Rankings have been updated after the 2025 Australian Open with Madison Keys as champion standing out as a riser as Aryna Sabalenka remains World No.1.

Sabalenka nearly lost the World No.1 to Iga Swiatek but she survived when ironically Keys who defeated her in the final of the 2025 Australian Open quelled her chagre in the semi-finals.

As a result, the Belarusian leaves the Australian Open with a 186 point lead and a silver lining as she starts her 23rd week as World No.1. She only has 185 points to defend in February while Swiatek has 1,390 points so the likelihood is that the gap will increase again.

Coco Gauff remains comfortably third with Jasmine Paolini more than 1,000 points behind. Also she will need to defend Dubai too or her points will drop off. Elena Rybakina who was poor last year at the Australian Open got further this year so rose up the rankings two spots back into the top five.

But it was Keys who performed the best equalling her career high of World No.7 climbing seven spots after winning her maiden Grand Slam title. It is her highest position since 2019.

Paula Badosa in reaching the semi-finals is back in the top 10 for the first time in three years. While Barbora Krejcikova who missed AO25 drops five places to World No.14 in the WTA Rankings.

Despite a final loss, Aryna Sabalenka averts the drop.

Ons Jabeur is starting to rise again up five spots to World No.35, Naomi Osaka is up to World No.42 up eight while Emma Raducanu moves four spots to World No.56.

Further down though it is Belinda Bencic and Eva Lys who standout. The former returned for the first time since giving birth to a main tour event and rose 137 spots to World No.157 after reaching the fourth round. While Lys after her Lucky Loser run moves up 38 spots to World No.91 after reaching the fourth round. The rising German is not in the position to not have to go through qualifying for tournaments yet but is getting closer.
