Roland Garros is set to shake up the WTA rankings a huge
amount. A huge tally of points is on offer for the best players in the world,
but for also lower ranked players who sense an opportunity to capitalise from.
In the prior week, tournaments in Strasbourg and Rabat have stolen the
headlines, offering change up and down the order.
There was no movement in the top 10. The likes of Aryna
Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff have big points to defend at Roland
Garros. Especially Gauff whose 2000 points for winning the title are under
scrutiny.
Speaking of titles. Victoria Mboko came within a set of
winning the Internationaux de Strasbourg, losing at the final hurdle. The 293
points gained are a positive step in the right direction but keeps her ninth in
the standings. Elena Rybakina was docked the points from her title run last year.
Navarro and Marcinko benefit from title runs
There is no movement right until the bottom of the top 20.
Liudmila Samsonova lost in the first round and succumbs 315 points, dropping seven
places to 27th. Clara Tauson moves into the top 20 as Elise Mertens,
Leylah Fernandez and Diana Shnaider all climb two spots.
The big winner was Emma Navarro who sealed a third WTA title
and first on clay in Strasbourg, getting the better of Mboko. It is a welcome
return to form, and a huge step in the right direction as she soars up the WTA rankings.
A +14 rise cements her top 30 status ahead of Roland Garros, leaving her in 25th.

Emma Navarro won the Internationaux de Strasbourg 2026
Emma Raducanu made her return to the court, but an exit a
round earlier than last year proves costly. She is right on the cusp of dropping
out of the top 40. Czech pair Barbora Krecjikova and Tereza Valentova lurk a
couple of spots behind. The 19-year-old reached a career high 42nd.

A huge part of that is due to Maya Joint’s plummet. The out
of form Aussie was not able to defend her points from the Rabat Grand Prix,
slipping to 52nd in the world. In contrast, fellow Aussie Dayana
Kasatkina rises nine spots to 53rd. Lois Boisson could be the next
one to fall with a semi-final to defend in Paris. A single win in Strasbourg
bumps her up seven places to 43rd for the time being.
There is a new career high ranking in store for Petra Marcinko,
the winner in Rabat. A 19-position boost to 51st in the world is a
cracking reward for her maiden WTA title. The loser, Anhelina Kalinina, also benefits
from a deep run, up 25 spots to 59th.
