It was certainly not a quiet week on the ATP Tour. While most tennis fans attentions were steered towards Roland Garros, the Hamburg Open and Geneva Open provided good preparation for the tournament. A lot of ranking points were there to be collected, and a number of winners from those two events have been rewarded with a boost in the ATP rankings.
Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev stay planted as the top three in the world. Novak Djokovic lost the 250 points from winning in Geneva last year as he looks over his shoulder.
Ben Shelton lost early in Hamburg but still rose a spot into fifth ahead of Felix Auger-Aliassime. Alex de Minaur’s semi-final showing gets him back on track and boosts his ranking up by two positions to seventh, leaving Taylor Fritz most at risk of leaving the top 10. Alexander Bublik caps it off with Lorenzo Musetti biding his time for a return.

Buse debuts in top 32, Hurkacz on cusp of top 100

Casper Ruud was unable to make it a fabulous four titles in Geneva. His semi-final run lifts him up one spot into 16th with the eventual champion, Learner Tien, reaching new heights in 18th.
As for Hamburg, the winner came from the unlikely source of qualifier Ignacio Buse. He swept Tommy Paul aside and debuts in the top 32 in the world thanks to it. A ginormous 26 position gain thanks to the 500 points collected leaves him 31st with Paul climbing five spots to 21st, on the cusp of returning to the top 20.
Mariano Navone defeated the inform Ruud on the way to the final in Switzerland, His inability to win halts his progress, although a return to the top 40 in 38th is a welcoming one.

A lot of players lost a position or two in this part of the rankings thanks to movers from below. That cannot be said for Hamburg quarter-finalists Daniel Altmaier and Camilo Ugo Carabelli. A +8 and +9 rise to 57th and 59th respectively leaves them in good stead ahead of their trip to the French capital.
Going one better was Aleksandar Kovacevic. He failed to qualify for the Hamburg Open, but still appeared in the semi-finals. The lucky loser’s run was halted to the hands of Buse, but a huge rise is still in store. A +27 ascend puts him 67th in the world.
Stefanos Tsitsipas continues to languish way off the heights he once was at. He rose back into the top 80, but there is a lot of work for the two-time Grand Slam finalist to complete.
The 2025 Geneva Open runner-up Hubert Hurkacz was doomed for a drop due to not competing. Saving himself for the French Open, he will go there as the world number 99 due to falling a staggering 21 positions.
