WTA Rankings Update: Svitolina skip over Kenin for 5th as Barty leads the field ahead of US Open

Heading into the US Open which starts later today Ashleigh Barty is still ahead of everybody on the WTA rankings.

The Australian player has been a consistent performer throughout the year winning 5 titles so far including Wimbledon earning the number one in the process. Heading into the US Open she is firmly ahead of Sabalenka at 2, Osaka at 3, Pliskova at 4 and Svitolina at 5. The Ukrainian player proved best in Chicago allowing her to jump to number 5.

Kenin dropped down to 6, Andreescu is at 7, Swiatek is at 8, Krejcikova is at 9 and Muguruza is at 10. The majority of the tour did not play this week choosing to prepare for the US Open in New York instead. That is why there have not been many changes in the top 100. Anett Kontaveit won Cleveland and moved up 2 spots to 28.

Cornet had a good week in Chicago jumping 12 spots to 56, Begu jumped 11 spots to 63. In total 3 players achieved career-high rankings and they are Sorribes Tormo at 31, Kostyuk at 55 and Gracheva at 81. Check out the top 100 below.
