WTA has released the updated calendar that goes until
Wimbledon, with 33 tournaments and the main focus on leading seven events that bring the most points.
January hosts the first WTA 500 event in Abu Dhabi and the
Australian Open qualifying round in Dubai. Following a two-week Melbourne quarantine, the players will compete in two WTA 500 events ahead of the Australian Open.
Those who decide to stay down under for another week will have the opportunity to enter the WTA 500 tournament. Doha, Lyon, Dubai, Guadalajara, St. Petersburg, Monterrey and Miami are all scheduled for March. After Charleston, Bogota and Stuttgart, April also brings the Fed Cup Finals in Budapest, followed by a two-week WTA 1000 Mutua Madrid Open.
Players will compete in Rome from May 10 and three smaller tournaments in the week ahead of
Roland Garros. The five-week grass-court swing offers seven events, with a grand finale at the third Major of the season at Wimbledon.
Calendar for the season's second part will be released later.
