After votes were cast from fans worldwide, the WTA Player of the Year from a fan perspective was crowned and it wasn't Aryna Sabalenka who was earmarked as their favourite. It was Zheng Qinwen.

The winner is perhaps a surprise. This given that Zheng has had an epic year but is not seen as having a big of a fanbase as other top stars as well as being a bit of a lone wolf on the tour. Her year can't be denied though with Olympic gold going her way as well as reaching the final at the WTA Finals and a maiden Grand Slam final.

She also perhaps ended the season as the most in form having dominated the Asian Hard Court swing which brought her a spot previously held by Emma Navarro in the Year End finals. Her portfolio endorsements wise has also massively increased ascending to new heights to join her counterparts as one of the highest paid female athletes in the world.

In doubles, the pairing of Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani won the fan vote. Aryna Sabalenka v Iga Swiatek scooped the award for best match at the Madrid final. While the latter checking to see if there was Tiramisu in the Roland Garros trophy won funny moment.

It was a Swiatek themed awards with the former World No.1 claiming WTA 1000 Best Moment for winning Madrid and Rome back-to-back while wins for Elena Rybakina in Stuttgart and Zheng Qinwen in Palermo won the awards for best moment in WTA 500 and WTA 250 categories respectively.

For those handing out awards though, it is soon enough that the 2025 running will begin to take shape. The new season starts before the end of the current one with the United Cup and Brisbane set to take place next week just after Christmas.
