That player who will now really fancy his chances of finally ending the run of the big three who now only have Rafael Nadal left is Daniil Medvedev who edged past Stan Wawrinka in the first tie.
This is despite the Russian once against struggling with the pain receiving painkillers and taping on his thigh in the first set of their match. He battled on though and after Wawrinka made it 5-5, Medvedev closed it out in a first set tie-break with three points on the bounce.
His pain subsided ever so slightly and this allowed him to break serve in the second set and take it but the momentum swung again in the favour of Wawrinka who raced back into the match with a 6-3 set win.
Despite that though, Medvedev went on to break serve twice in the final set to claim a brilliant victory but injury concerns will be an issue.
Next up will be Grigor Dimitrov who stunned Roger Federer in their Quarter-Final match up despite his poor record against the Swiss ace. The latter had a potential back injury but this doesn't take anything away from Dimitrov's brilliance in what was a thriller.
