The 2021 Madrid Open should be a great spectacle as some of the best ATP & WTA players will meet in the Spanish capital from April 29th - May 9th.
While the WTA event will start already on April 29th and end on May 8th, the ATP event will start a few days later on May 2nd and run until May 9th. The best of the best should meet in Madrid with Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Ashleigh Barty, Naomi Osaka, and Simona Halep on the star-studded entry lists.
After skipping the 2020 event due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Madrid Open will be played again after 2 years. The prize money back in 2019 was really nice for players with more than 1 million euros for the winner. However, this year it will be different as the winner will take only 315,160€ with the overall prize money being $2,614,465.
The most important thing for players will be that the points will be the same as in 2019 and so the winner will take 1000 points with the runner-up adding 600 to the rankings and 188,280€ in the prize money. The semifinalists will then take 106,690€ and 360 points to the rankings. You can see the whole distribution in the table below.
