The nominees for the ATP Comeback player of the year include names like Dominic Thiem, Borna Coric and Stan Wawrinka.
The comeback player of the year is reserved for the player who experienced a return to glory following something that derailed their career. For most, it's some kind of injury with the players named in the nominee's list all suffering injuries in the past.
The players nominated include Andreas Mies, Borna Coric, Dominic Thiem, Edouard Roger-Vasselin, Stan Wawrinka and Yibing Wu. The comebacks of Thiem Coric and Wawrinka are well known with the one of Coric sticking out due to the high level he has played in the final weeks of the season.
He experienced his biggest career trophy in Cincinnati earlier this year following a dramatic shoulder injury that left him away from tennis for a very long time. He's favoured by many to win it.

- I heartily disagree with Stubbs here. I mean c'mon! The whole idea of giving out wildcards is to give new & up-coming players a chance at getting as much circuit match-practice under their belts as possible. And this is a HUGE must and opportunity for these new kids on the block. Why curtail opportunities for these newbies in favour of stalwart monopoly?? That just isn't fair. At least give these lesser known players a chance to become more familiar at playing in bigger tournaments & give them also a chance of getting the crowds behind these underdogs.
