Holger Rune and Botic van de Zandschulp will face each other in the BMW Munich Open final just like last year but fans are hoping to actually see a match.
Last year we saw this exact matchup in the final but it was a rather short final as van de Zandschul retired after a few games. He had breathing problems that landed him in an ambulance after the match. He took a MTO to try and figure out what was going on but after coming back and playing a few points, he realized that he wasn't going to be able to play.
It was a shame because both were playing really good tennis with Rune winning his first trophy by retirement. Far from ideal but fans will get a chance to see a possibly even better matchup this year. Rune is a far better player this year and van de Zandschulp certainly found something here this week.
It's a good matchup with the Danish player having a 1-0 advantage in the head-to-head matches. Both like to play aggressively so expect a very nappy match with a lot of good rallies.
