Tennis will return to Bucharest with the
Tiriac Open Bucharest ran by former players Ion Tiriac and Ilie Nastase, the greatest tennis players in the history of Romania. It will take place between 15-21 April, 2024 on its return.
Held between 1996 and 2016 for 21 consecutive editions, it returns after an eight year gap and repositions Bucharest back on the tennis map. David Ferrer, Gilles Simon and Grigor Dimitrov are among the former champions. Francisco Cerundolo, Nuno Borges, Stan Wawrinka and Sebastian Korda are among the top names aiming to seal the title this time around.
There is €579,320 in total in terms of
prize money with $88,125 to the winner. $51,400 for the runner-up. $30,220 for the semi-finalists and this breakdown will go all the way down to the first round with $6,215 on offer. There are 250 points for the winner and it goes down in increments so it will be 165 points for reaching the final and 100 for the semi-final. Losing in the first round accrues no points.
