Rafael
Nadal congratulated
Novak Djokovic after he clinched the 2023 French Open
title.
Nadal's
absence from Roland Garros prevented him from competing against Djokovic in the
race for the most Grand Slam titles. A year ago, the Spanish player had reached
22 Slams, surpassing Federer (who was already retired at that time) and
Djokovic, both with 20.
A year
later, the tables have turned, and Djokovic secured his 23rd title, making him
the male player with the most Grand Slam titles. For many, this achievement
clears any doubts about the "Greatest of All Time" (GOAT), especially
considering Nadal will not be competing this year and there is uncertainty
about his form in his final year of competition in 2024.
At the
moment, Djokovic remains the favorite in the upcoming Grand Slam tournaments
and has a high chance of increasing his tally. Spanish player
Rafael Nadal
congratulated Nole on his achievement:
“Many
congrats on this amazing achievement @DjokerNole 23 is a number that just a few
years back was impossible to think about, and you made it! Enjoy it with your
family and team!” Nadal wrote on Twitter.
After winning
the French Open, Djokovic is not currently registered for any grass-court
tournaments until Wimbledon. However, the possibility of receiving a wild card
to gain momentum is always available for the all-time leader in Grand Slam
titles.
