Holger Rune has been branded as the new bad boy of tennis however the Danish rising star doesn't see himself that way as he only plays with a lot of passion.
The mantle of a bad boy has been longly associated with Nick Kyrgios recently due to the way he carries himself on a tennis court. Before that, it was associated with Jonh McEnroe and more recently with Holger Rune. It's mostly associated with players who show a lot of passion on the court which kind of doesn't resemble what many consider the perfect tennis players who are always cool under pressure.
Rune admitted that he doesnt' see himself as a bad boy:
"I don't see myself as the bad boy at all. I mean, I play with a lot of passion and energy when I'm on the court. I think many players do that. I don't know why that should be a bad boy thing, to play with energy on the court. A bad boy thing is to break racquets and stuff like this. If I remember well, I don't break a racquet when I play. I don't see myself like that."
Asked about his clash with Lahyani, Rune said:
"There's obviously a few things here and there. The umpire today. But again, I see the ball out, he saw it in. I saw on the Hawk-Eye after that the ball was out, so I don't know."
