Britain’s Katie Boulter has admitted that her boyfriend, Alex de Minaur, has helped her grow. The two have been dating since 2020 and are already regarded as one of the most powerful couples in the world of tennis.
Boulter recently spoke to Sky Sports, as quoted by English media outlet Daily Express, where she talked about the positive influence her boyfriend
had on her life. The 26-year-old was of the opinion that the men’s world number
nine has helped her push boundaries. She also went on to state that she takes
the advice of De Minaur every ‘once in a while’.
"Anyone who has watched our journey has seen us grow
together on the court and off the court,” said Boulter. “For me, it's such a
lovely feeling to know that everything is going well on the court, and we can
still enjoy time away from the court together. I feel like we've really helped
each other in so many different ways. Firstly, he's there for advice. He's got
some credence, so I have to take his advice on board, and I don't mind
listening to him once in a while. I don't know if he takes it well from me, but
he knows what he's doing. He's already been on the journey that I'm on right
now. I've probably been on it a bit longer, so I have a slightly different
perspective, which I can help him with, and he can help me with the ranking
side of things. It's pushed my boundaries even more and given me belief that I
can be where he's at right now."
Boulter has had an impressive 2024 season, where she won two
WTA titles. She lifted the San Diego Open after beating Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine
in the final with a score of 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. She then lifted the Rothesay Open
after beating Czech Republic’s Karolina Pliskova in the final with a score of
4-6, 6-3, 6-2. On the other hand, De Minaur also has an impressive season as he
lifted two titles as well. He won the ATP 500 title in Mexico after beating
Norway’s Casper Ruud in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-4. He
then lifted the Libema Open after beating America’s Sebastian Korda in the
final in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-4.
