World No.2 Alexander Zverev suffered a disappointing exit at last week's Indian Wells tournament, but the German is hoping to right the ship as he takes on the field at the ongoing Miami Open.

The Tokyo Olympic gold medalist has had a poor start to the 2025 season, with his most recent loss coming in the opening round at Indian Wells. As the top seed, Zverev relinquished a one set lead, falling to Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor in a close three-set encounter.

Miami court conditions could prove to be beneficial, says Zverev

The two-time ATP Finals champion is yet to make it past the quarterfinals at any event following his runner-up finish to Jannik Sinner at the 2025 Australian Open. Following a disappointing loss at Indian Wells, where several players complained about the new court surface, Zverev is hoping to right the ship on familiar territory.

"Miami is my favorite city in the United States," admitted the German. "My favorite sports team is here, with the Miami Heat, so I really enjoy being here. I really enjoy spending time here.
"The conditions probably suit me better than Indian Wells. The courts are much faster. I started the season well in Australia, but I haven't played at my best for a few weeks. Hopefully, I can pick myself up here and show some good tennis again. I really want to take it match by match and try to win every match I play."

Zverev has a first round bye at the Miami Open, before he takes on the winner between Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi and British qualifier Jacob Fearnley.
