One year after winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, Zverev will make his way back to Honshu to play at the Rakuten Open.
One of the fondest memories Zverev has of tennis is the 2020 Olympics which were held last year in Tokyo. The German played an incredible event to win the gold medal and now, he'll make his return to the city to play some ATP tennis. The event in an ATP 500 one set to run at the start of October. Despite being so late in the year it's going to be an outdoor hard court event as always.
The last time the event was held was in 2019 and Novak Djokovic won it. It's a longstanding one that is quite popular among the players because it offers the chance to explore Japan and its culture. Zverev is not the only top player that has committed to playing at the event as he will be joined by Casper Ruud and native Kei Nishikori.
