Never arrogant and known for his humble demeanour both on and off the court, that comes from the parents of
Carlos Alcaraz, he revealed after he won Indian Wells this past weekend.
Alcaraz defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final of the first part of the Sunshine Double. But despite his continued success, he never gets ahead of himself and said that for him, he just sees himself as a normal human being and that he wants to always be back at home with his friends like he isn't a global sporting star.
He said that and his parents keep his feet firmly placed on the ground and keep him humble no matter what he wins and no matter how much money he has accrued in his short career so far. It was a first title since last year's Wimbledon for the Spaniard.
"Well, my father and my mom have a really good role. They try to pull me in the ground every time that I win a tournament or I win an amount of money, I'm not gonna lie, I’m not gonna hide. They always stay there to put my feet on the ground."
"For me, it's not difficult to do it because every time I do a really good results or if I have a really good run in a tournament, I always want to be back with my friends, just feel like nothing happened to me. I love to be back at home, feel like I'm Carlos Alcaraz as a person, not as a tennis player, not I did something huge, I want to feel like I’m a normal guy."
