Andrey Rublev did well enough to move past
Andy Murray at the ABN AMRO WTT in Rotterdam.
Heading into this match Andrey Rublev has been one of the most in-form tennis players as of late. Contrary to that Andy Murray hasn't been playing well at all prompting many to call for him to retire. Andy was quick to fire back against the critics reiterating his belief in being able to compete against eh best. Today he showcased as much albeit in a losing effort. The first set was very tightly contested as Murray played well especially on the first serve. He even forced three break points but he failed to use either. On the other hand, Rublev forced only two but he used one late in the set to clinch it 7-5.
The 2nd set was a bit different as Rublev started playing better. Murray struggled a bit on his first serve which gave Rublev chances that he took. At 4-2 for Rublev in the second set, Murray found himself down 0-40 in the game and Rublev broke him again to make it 5-2. He then swiftly ended it with 6-2.
A solid effort from Murray who played well for the majority of the 1st set and even had chances but ultimately Rublev proved too good at the moment.
