Andy Murray and
Joe Salisbury continued to play great in the Olympics doubles event defeating Krawietz and Puetz 6-2 7-6(2).
The Olympic dream of Andy Murray continues with another stellar performance from the British duo as they took down the top pairing of Germany. Murray and Salisbury turned heads in Tokyo with their easy win over number two seeds Herbert and Mahut in R1 and it wasn't by mistakes.
They put forward another great performance today defeating Krawietz and Puetz in two sets. Similar to their first match Murray and Salisbury came out determined and quickly established themselves in the match. They took an early break and finished off the first set 6-2.
The 2nd seed featured better play by the Germans so we had a traditional game by game doubles match where neither team was able to find cracks in the armour of the other. Late in the match, the Brits ramped up the pressure and it culminated with a 7-2 win in the tiebreak which sealed the match.
Andy Murray was advised against playing both the singles and doubles so the British player opted to play the doubles which proved like the right decision. His return is an immense weapon and it worked today as well. Murray and Salisbury are now one win away from the medal round.
