Naomi Osaka Tokyo 2021
Naomi Osaka is out of the Tokyo Olympic Games after an abysmal performance against Marketa Vondrousova 1-6 4-6.
It was an abysmal performance by Naomi Osaka who played her worst match on hard court in a very long time to lose in straight sets. Vondrousova arrived in Tokyo only after using the protected rankings clause effectively kicking out Muchova who earned the place but today she pulled off something impossible.
The match was played indoors due to the rain and the conditions were even slower than usual which did not help Osaka at all. The Japanese player did not look comfortable on the court and her body language was very negative.
From the start, she could not find any rhythm serving or playing. She was overhitting balls left and right and her forehand looked shaky. She rushed in points looking to end them after one or two shots not displaying any sort of patience. Vondrousova kept the ball in play and waited for a mistake.
She got it numerous times and even was able to overturn a 0-2 deficit in the 2nd set to a 6-4 win. A shocking display by Osaka who really did not seem to enjoy that match one bit. Vondrousova moves on to the next round. Osaka had 32 unforced errors.
