Stefanos Tsitsipas won the first match of day 4 against Frances Tiafoe 6-3 6-4 as rain halted play on all other courts.
Stefanos Tsitsipas was able to avenge his Wimbledon defeated to Frances Tiafoe by defeating the American 6-3 6-4 in the 3rd round of the Olympic Games. The match was played under a closed roof due to rain and those conditions a far more favoured by Tsitsipas than Tiafoe and it showed.
The first set was decided early on when Tsitsipas saved a break point while Tiafoe did not. The greek went up 3-0 and never looked back. Both served well enough to hold their serves as the indoor conditions helped that. Stefanos won the opening one with 6-3.
The 2nd one was played even better by Tsitsipas who forced several break points against Tiafoe. He would convert one to take the 4-2 lead and hold it for the rest of the set. He closed it out with 6-4 and the difference in the match was play on serve. Tsitsipas was too solid while Tiafoe allowed too many opportunities on his 2nd serve.
