Fondly dubbed as the mini Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz is quickly establishing himself as one of the best young talents on the tour. The Spaniard possesses a very strong clay game at the age of 18 which bodes well for his future. His career while not as impressive early as that of Nadal mimics it to a degree.
After his title win, Nadal who played Alcaraz in Rome this year shared a story on his Instagram account where he wrote:
“Congratulations Carlos! The first title is always remembered in a special way. Onwards!”
The title allowed Alcaraz to jump to number 55 in the ranking which is also something he has in common with Nadal. At age 18 Nadal was ranked 49th in the world.
