Andy Murray spent close to 6 hours on the court and will leave it minutes after the local clock showed 04:00 in what is one of the longest matches in
Australian Open history.
It's not the longest one ever in Melbourne as that one still belongs to Nadal and Djokovic but it's the second-longest match in Australian Open history. Five hours and 45 minutes were needed for Andy Murray to write tennis history. Not only was it the longest match of his career, but it was also a comeback win as he trailed 0-2 2-5 against Kokkinakis.
This is one of the most memorable wins of Murray's career and quite possibly could define his career and everything he stood for. He was tremendous and getting better with each game. While Kokkinakis faltered Murray became better. He looked like his old self which is impossible considering his age and what he has in hip.
Kokkinakis had the match won but he threw it away with some bad choices. He was quite unlucky in some moments as well as the British player hit the tip of the net quite a few times at the right time for him but the match was brilliantly fought by both players. Kokkinakis had 37 aces and 102 winners but it was not enough against the iron man Murray.
Incredible.
