Andy Murray managed to play a full week of competitive tennis reaching the final of the Biella challenger where he lost on the last day.
It was a week full of tennis for Murray who played the most tennis he has played in a long time. It was four matches in total for the Brit en route to the final and today he played the final match of the event against Illya Marchenko. He didn't have a very good time in this final losing 2-6 2-4 in an hour and a half of play. The first set opened very badly for Murray who lost his serve at the start and he had to play uphill tennis from the start. The Ukrainian served extremely well not allowing Murray anything on his serve and clinching it 6-2.
The 2nd set started off badly for Murray once more as he dropped his serve in the first game. Once again he put himself in a hole from which he could not craw out again as the Ukrainian did not allow it. Overall Marchenko played extremely well on his own serve winning 82 % of his first service points. He was very good on his 2nd serve as well winning 65 % of those as well. In total, he didn't allow Murray a single break point in the whole match winning the 2nd set with 6-4.
As disappointing as it may be losing in the final, Murray will be glad he got a whole week of competitive tennis under his belt giving him extended opportunity to play. It is the reason he came to Biella in the first place and he got it. He will stay in Biella for a 2nd week to play in the Biella 2 Challenger so we will plenty of Andy next week as well. Welcome back.
