Andy Murray spoke numerous tim6es about his desire to win a medal at the Tokyo
Olympic Games but the British player won't get to play for one. In the match for the medal round, Murray and Salisbury faced off against Cilic and Dodig and lost. They started off well taking an early break and holding it for the first set with 6-4.
The 2nd set was a long one as both teams played rather well and neither had too many chances. The first chance came for Murray and Salisbury and they took it for a 4-2 lead. However, the Croatian duo found a way to come back into the match and force a tiebreak.
In it, they were simply better outplaying Murray and Salisbury who looked disjointed at times. Cilic and Dodig held their nerve winning it 7-2. We were headed for a match tiebreak and the momentum was on the side of the Croatians. They lost the first point in the tiebreak but after that settled in nicely.
Murray and Salisbury had some decent chances but the British duo simply could not win the crucial rallies. Some mistakes, a bit of bad luck and they found themselves down 8-3. They did manage to win some great rallies but in the end, it was too much of a hole and they bow out with a 7-10 final set loss.
