Britain’s tennis star
Andy Murray is set to take part in the
Surbiton Trophy ahead of the
Wimbledon 2024. The 36-year-old is often regarded
as one the best players to come out of Britain, at least in the men’s singles
category.
Murray has struggled with a lot of fitness concerns
throughout his career. It was because of this reason he announced retirement
from the sport in 2018 after the Australian Open. However, the former world number
one miraculously came back and is somehow playing at the highest level. Murray is
set to return to the court after suffering another ankle injury back in March.
He will participate in the Challengers event in Bordeaux to prepare for the
upcoming French Open.
That’s not it as per the latest report, the Glasgow-born
star will participate in the Surbiton Trophy to prepare for Wimbledon. Last
year, Murray defeated Jurij Rodionov in the final of the Challengers event to
lift the title. The competition will begin on June 03. Murray will be hoping
that participating in the Surbiton Trophy will help him prepare for the mega-event
on his home soil. The current world number 77 has enjoyed more success at
Wimbledon more than in any other mega-event where he lifted the title two times,
in 2013 and in 2016.
