Former world number one
Andy Murray has hit back at fellow countryman
Britain’s Cameron Norrie about his remarks regarding fantasy football.
The 28-year-old in a recent Q & A mocked the 36-year-old
about his knowledge and performance in fantasy football.
Murray hit back at those comments made by Norrie and stated he
has never finished the current world number 17.
“That’s quite interesting Cam because I’m not sure I’ve ever
finished behind you in fantasy football before,” said Murray. “So yeah,
interesting question, not sure he’s being honest with me or himself by asking
that. We just did our fantasy football draft actually this morning so I’ll keep
you all posted on who finishes higher out of me and Cam this year.”
Murray has had an average outing on the court in 2023 where
despite showing a lot of promise, he failed to achieve anything significant.
The Glasgow-born took part in three out of the four Grand
Slams this year but failed to qualify for the fourth round or beyond in any of
the mega-event.
His best performance in a major event this year came in the
Australian Open where he was knocked out after losing the third-round clash to
Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut with a score of 6-1, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.
Murray’s career has been hampered by fitness concerns and
he announced his retirement from the sport in 2019 because of a hip injury.
However, the current world number 41 made a stunning return
to the court soon after and is still playing at the highest level, showing his
commitment towards the sport.
Murray has an impressive record while playing at the highest
level as he has won three Grand Slam titles in his career.
Two of those victories came at Wimbledon where he lifted the
title in 2013 and 2016 whereas he also won the US Open in 2012.
