Anett Kontaveit is playing far off from her top 10 ranking as the Estonian player once again embarrassed herself on the court.
She was playing Potapova from Russia and she lost 1-6 1-6 in 51 minutes. There is very little to say about this effort from Kontaveit who is firmly ranked in the top 10 but hasn't played like that in a very long time. Problems started early for Kontaveit who did not serve as well. She's never been the best server but things get easier for her if she serves well.
As Potapova had plenty of looks on the 2nd serve of Kontaveit she was able to take an early break. The Russian is a very streaky player so her getting an early lead only increased her confidence and things got worse for Kontaveit really bad.
That early lead turned to a 6-1 2nd set finish and things did not go much better in the 2nd set. Potapova simply dominated the rallies as Kontaveit struggled to keep the ball in play. The 2nd set finished with 6-1 for Potapova as well. An easy 51-minute match for the Russian who moves on to the semifinals.
