The Draw for the 2023 China Open has been released, with the likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Holger Rune set to take to the courts at the National Tennis Center from September 30-October 8.

World No. 2 Alcaraz will be the top seed at the ATP 500 tournament and he will begin his run against a qualifier. The Spaniard has had a successful season, winning his second Grand Slam title at Wimbledon and qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals. Here, he will be hoping to boost his ATP Ranking points in a bid to overtake Novak Djokovic and finish the year as World No. 1.

On the other side of the draw is World No. 3 Medvedev. The 27-year-old defeated Alcaraz at the US Open earlier this month, meaning that a potential clash between the two top seeds in the final of the China Open could make for a thrilling re-match. He starts his campaign against Tommy Paul. The World No. 13 will make for a tough first-round opponent, but Medvedev leads their head-to-head 1-0.

If he makes it through this clash, the Russian will face another challenge in the second round as he is set to take on either Andy Murray or Alex de Minaur.

Stacked line-up sets up tough battles

Seeded third at the tournament is World No. 4 Holger Rune, who is returning after a back injury forced him to withdraw from the Laver Cup this week. The 20-year-old will also have a tough challenge in the opening round against Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime. Their head-to-head currently stands at 1-1 but neither player has been on form lately, so it will be interesting to see who prevails here.

Meanwhile, fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas will take on the big hitter Nicolas Jarry in his first round, while fifth seed Andrey Rublev will face World No. 17 Cameron Norrie. Both match-ups have a head-to-head of 2-2.

Sixth seed Jannik Sinner will take on Dan Evans in the first round, marking their first match against each other. The Italian has not played since the US Open where he lost a five-set battle with Alexander Zverev in the fourth-round. Meanwhile, Evans' last tournament was the Davis Cup, where he contributed to ensuring Britain's place in the quarter-finals.

Zverev will also take to the court in Beijing, facing Diego Schwartzman in the first round. The German has built up momentum by reaching the Chengdu Open final this week and leads their head-to-head 3-2.
