The Draw for the 2023 Zhuhai Championships has been announced, with the tournament set to take place between September 20-26 and to include the likes of Karen Khachanov, Andy Murray, and Sebastian Korda.

The ATP 250 event will take place for the first time since 2019 after strict COVID-19 restrictions made it difficult for tournaments to be held in China in recent years.

After World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev withdrew from the event, the top seed is now World No. 15 Khachanov who will receive a bye through the Round of 32 and begin his campaign against either Diego Schwartzman or a qualifier.

Potential clash with Korda

Khachanov is expected to clash with fourth-seed Korda in the semi-finals of the Championships, but the latter will first need to make it past one of two rapidly improving players - Rinky Hijikata or Alexandre Muller.

Meanwhile, second seed and World No. 17 Cameron Norrie will face a qualifier in his first round before a potential meeting with his compatriot and former World No. 1 Murray in the quarter-finals. The latter will begin his run at the tournament against wild card home player Ye Cong Mo.

Meanwhile, another home player, rising talent Juncheng Shang, will also feature. The 18-year-old will play against Mackenzie McDonald in his Round of 32 match.

Struff begins comeback

Moreover, Jan-Lennard Struff is returning to competition for the first time since June at this tournament. The German player is seeded third and is likely to face Cristian Garin provided the Chilean player defeats Yi Zhou in the Round of 32.

Elsewhere, Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka will take on Terrence Atmane, the latter of whom recently broke into the top 150 in the ATP Ranking for the first time after winning the Guangzhou challenger. Furthermore, Lloyd Harris will play against Jiri Vesely in the first round.
