The ATP Finals will reportedly leave Turin from 2026 onwards albeit for Jannik Sinner in particular, all isn't lost when it comes to his yearly homecoming as the tournament will stay in Italy.
The annual event has been held in Turin for the last four years, having previously taken place at the O2 Arena in London between 2009 and 2020. At least the next two will be played in Turin but it will move in 2026.
According to II Sole 24 Ore, it will switch to the Arena Santa Giulia in Milan albeit it is still very much under construction. The 16,000 capacity arena though has a time limit in terms of when it will be finished with the Winter Olympics set to take place in MIlan. That stadium will be used for it. After that, the venue is set to become the main sporting and entertainment hub for the city. It will replace the Unipol Forum as a result.
It is expected to open at the start of 2026 meaning it will be ready to host the ATP Finals which begin today in Turin by that point. The report suggests that not only will it likely be announced in the coming days but also that the Italian Tennis Federation have plugged more money into the tournament. It will be held in Milan until 2030 and will be up to $25million from the current $15million.
The Italian Federation will pay a bigger annual fee to keep it in the country of $30million from $18million. It is also an interesting time ahead with a sort of changing of the guard in men's tennis as Novak Djokovic and other former powers will likely be out by then. JanniK Sinner as the home hero continues to rise, as does Carlos Alcaraz. But the likelihood is that we will see new names and faces by that point.
