Novak Djokovic despite being dumped out in the semi-finals of the 2024 Australian Open has reached a new milestone in starting a record-extending week atop the ATP Ranking on Monday 29 January. He has now spent an incredible 410 weeks atop the ATP Ranking and is now exactly 100 weeks clear of Roger Federer in second place in the all time list.
He is currently in his 10th stint as World No.1 and has spent the last 21 weeks at the top after seeing off the charge of
Carlos Alcaraz last September at the US Open. Alcaraz is just 600 points behind, but for Djokovic he likely doesn't have to worry with Alcaraz having to defend Indian Wells and Miami points which the Serbian does not in the coming months.
Daniil Medvedev is the likely next cab off the rank as he sits 490 points adrift of Alcaraz in third.
While
Jannik Sinner, the latest new Grand Slam winner continues to sit fourth. But he is only 455 points behind Medvedev and has broken through the 8000 point barrier. It also sees a fairly large gap open up with a Big Four of sorts as Andrey Rublev sits over 3,000 points behind alongside Alexander Zverev. In terms of other top 10 movements,
Hubert Hurkacz is into a career high of World No.8, while
Stefanos Tsitsipas has dropped three places to no.10.
Other career highs include
Adrian Mannarino in World No.1`7, Miomir Kecmanovic is up to World No.41, while Nuno Borges is into the top 50 after surging 22 places to No.47. Zhizhen Zhang (50th), Alex Michelsen (73rd) and Flavio Cobolli (76th) have all also made strides over the last fortnight.
