The ATP season is in full flow with a number of competitions already done and dusted for the year with there plenty of changes in the ATP Rankings.
It is pivotal for players to get off with a positive result to commence the year and to move them up the rankings, relieving pressure later on in the year while allowing them to gain the rewarding benefits from it.

Alcaraz and Sinner keep huge lead

It is going to be a while until one of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner drop out of the top two in the world. They opted to travel to South Korea to feature in an exhibition match against each other. They would not collect any ranking points compared to the chasing pack, but the gap is so large they have not made a dent. Alcaraz stays as world number one with 12,050 points while Sinner trails him with 11,500 points.
Alexander Zverev (5,105) remains in third spot but is under a lot of pressure with an Australian Open final to defend very shortly. Closely behind ready to possibly pounce on this is Novak Djokovic, who stays on 4,780 ranking points due to not participating in the Adelaide International.
The first mover comes in Lorenzo Musetti clambering to a career-high of fifth in the world via another final defeat. He rises up to 4,105 points after the final appearance in the Hong Kong Open. Alex de Minaur stays in sixth while Felix Auger-Aliassime (3990) has dropped two places down to seventh in the world. Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz both stay in eighth and ninth respectively, with Alexander Bublik achieving his yearly goal after his title in Hing Kong, debuting in the top 10. British number one Jack Draper drops out.

Early season deep runs paying off

Daniil Medvedev had a dreadful 2025 campaign, but was showing signs of his old self at the end of it. He has started the year with the Brisbane International title, with the former US Open champion moving up to 12th in the world with 2,910 points.
There is also movement for fellow Russian Andrey Rublev after his semi-final in Hong Kong. He rises two places into 14th in the world with 2,600 points. There is also a little bit of change just outside the top 20, with Fracisco Cerundolo climbing into 20th ahead of Tommy Paul.
Brandon Nakashima made his first ATP Tour final since 2022, losing out to Medvedev. He will reap the rewards, rising four places to a new career-high of world number 29. This has led to a number of players dropping down a place, which includes Stefanos Tsitsipas who did impress at the United Cup but is edging further away from the top 32.
Sebastian Baez won all three United Cup singles ties in Argentina's campaign in Australia. He rises four places in the rankings to world number 39.
The biggest mover in the top 100 is clearly Hubert Hurkacz. Despite not stepping onto the court since June, he was a key component in Poland's United Cup triumph. He rose a staggering 30 places up into 53rd. Pedro Martinez was the second highest mover, rising 25 places after winning a Challenger title in Bengaluru, India. He is now in 71st in the world.
The biggest loser was Serbian Hamad Medjedovic who continued to fall closer to dropping outside the top 100. He slots in 96th in the world, while Alexander Blockx make his debut in the top 100 after climbing 20 places into 95th.
