While
Novak Djokovic won't play at the
Australian Open he is still ranked as number one for the time being with players getting ready for the hunt.
The Australian Open began today and we have many great matches coming up in the next few days but turning our focus to the ATP
Rankings we can see that Djokovic is still holding the number one spot. As he won't be able to defend his title he is set to lose quite a bit of points which could potentially shake up the rankings. The difference between him and Medvedev and Zverev is not significant and it will get smaller after the event.
In the rest of the top 10, we had two changes. Nadal is up one spot to number 5 with
Jannik Sinner moving to number 10 as well. Aslan Karatsev reached a new career-high ranking of 15 after winning Sydney proving there is something about Australia for him. Milos Raonic continued his slide due to injuries with the Canadian coming very close to dropping outside of the top 100 as he is 85th right now.
A couple of players have made significant progress this week and they include
Corentin Moutet who is back inside the top 100 at 100 and Holger Rune who makes his top 100 debut at number 99. Kokkinakis failed to enter back inside the top 100 but the Australian jumped 42 spots to number 103.
Andy Murray is back up to 113.
