ATP Rankings Update: Djokovic keeps no. 1 as Karatsev moves into top 50

It has been a very exciting Australian Open fortnight which brought Novak Djokovic his 9th Australian Open and Aslan Karatsev a top 50 ranking.

The Australian Open came and went and besides delivering some top match and a high level of tennis it gave us a new breakout tennis player in the form of Aslan Karatsev. The Russian has been the story of the Grand Slam reaching the semifinal at the first Grand Slam he ever played. The Russian was ranked as the 114th player in the World prior to the event and now he is the 42nd player in the World. That is a leap of 72 spots which might just be the biggest one ever.

On the top Novak Djokovic remained as the World number one following his 9th Australian Open title. Daniil Medvedev jumped to number 3 following a strong run that saw him lose in the finals while last year's finalist Dominic Thiem fell to number 4. The rest of the top 10 stayed unchanged with the majority of players achieving good results at the Australian Open.
