The ATP Rankings have been updated for another week with Jannik Sinner's lead extending as World No.1 over Carlos Alcaraz. Sinner sits on 13,350 points ahead of 12,960 points of the Spaniard and of course has only just retaken that World No.1 spot.
Injuring his right wrist and being forced to withdraw from the second round in Barcelona, this had a knock on effect as he lost points. He lost 280 in all and also a golden opportunity to reclaim the World No.1 spot. The gap widens slightly as a result of this.
It is now 360 points between the two and could grow further given Sinner didn't play until Rome last year so has the Madrid Open to add to that haul. He plays and Alcaraz doesn't over the next week.
But while those two squabble, it is about the next generation with Arthur Fils having an incredible week. The Frenchman was victorious in Barcelona and returns to the top 25. He also reclaims the French No.1 spot.

Future stars thrive

While Joao Fonseca is also on the cusp of the top 30 and reaching his latest milestone after a great week also. While Hamad Medjedovic who reached the semi-finals is the big winner of the week gaining 20 spots to reach 68th.
Flavio Cobolli and Andrey Rublev too who also reached respective finals seem to be the next cabs off the rank so to speak when it comes to the top 10. Sitting 13th and 12th, they are closing in.

Flavio Cobolli had a great week.
While above them, Taylor Fritz despite not playing gains a spot moving up to World No.7. Alex de Minaur reaching the second round and being knocked out early.
But while Alcaraz falters, two Spaniards thrive further down. Rafael Jodar continues his meteoric rise sitting in the top 50 for the first time after reaching the Barcelona semi-finals. While Martin Landaluce also reached the top 100 for the first time and they will be leading stories going into this week's Madrid Open.
