Having been on the ATP Tour for only a few years, Felix Auger-Aliassime already seems to be having the best season of his career and the Canadian hopes to carry the momentum into the US Open.
The 20-year old broke into the Top 20 this year, reaching a career high of World No.15. Furthermore, he made his first Grand Slam quarterfinals at Wimbledon, and even defeated his idol Roger Federer en route to reaching the semifinals at Halle.
However, Auger-Aliassime is not content with those performances and is looking to produce greater results during the US hard court season, which culminates with the US Open.
“I think the start of the year I was playing well on the hard courts so I think I’m going to play well now on the hard court swing in the next couple of weeks to gain some confidence and bring some good results,” said the Canadian in a recent interview.
Regarding his on-court success, Auger-Aliassime stated that consistency was key, in addition to staying grounded in the present.
“I try to take it one week at a time. There are so many weeks in the season. I feel like to be consistent you really have to make an effort to stay in the present," added Auger-Aliassime. “It’s easy to catch yourself looking at the future and hoping I’m making either Turin or Milan Finals for me so I try to stay in the present. We don’t know what the future holds.”
Auger-Aliassime is currently competing at the Citi Open Washington, where he is the tournament's second seed.
