Bautista gives Spain lead in ATP Cup final after victory over Lajovic

Roberto Bautista defeated Dusan Lajovic in the first matchup of the final tie at the 2020 ATP Cup between Spain and Serbia.

The Spanish no. 2 and world no. 10 added his 6th victory at the ATP Cup and he remained undefeated in Australia. Moreover, Bautista did not lose a single set during the tournament.
The Spanish player defeated Lajovic 7-5, 6-1 in an hour and 38 minutes. Spain lead 1-0 against Serbia and Novak Djokovic will need to defeated Rafael Nadal in order to keep hopes for his country alive. After the match, Bautista spoke about his opponent and the ATP Cup.
“Dusan is playing at a great level but I played a very good match from my side. He was aggressive and stepping inside the baseline to manage the game, but I believed I could change it and I played a great end of the first set and a great second set.”
“It's been a great time, we enjoy a lot playing ATP Cup, being together, practising together, spending time as a team. We have a good chemistry and hopefully we can keep it like this for many more years."
Bautista also commented on the match of two of the best player in the world. “We are about to see one of the best matches we can see on a tennis court. Two of the best players in history. I will support Rafa as strong as I can and I believe he can make it and we can get the title here."
