The Eastbourne Open is due to take place between January 22-27 and is due to include some top names as we turn the corner towards Wimbledon. Don't blink as we head to the South Coast.
A tournament that is now downgraded and used to feature some massive names, Queen's has taken the spotlight and so it has become semi like the men's tournament in still attracting big names but less of the top fayre it used to.
Madison Keys, Jasmine Paolini among others headline with the men's event headlined by Taylor Fritz. Maya Joint is defending champion on the South Coast.

Predictions Eastbourne Open WTA

Samuel Gill, Head Editor for TennisUpToDate.com sees Barbora Krejcikova winning the title.
I think Barbora Krejcikova wins it. She nearly won s'Hertogenbosch before and had to pull out due to illness so has form on the grass.
I also see Madison Keys as a big contender. Same for the harshly denied Queen's wildcard, Tatjana Maria as well as Jasmine Paolini. All though are a bit of a question mark based off form and injury records.
*** Barbora Krejcikova
** Madison Keys, Tatjana Maria, Jasmine Paolini
Krejcikova at Roland Garros.
Krejcikova a contender?
Lucas Michael, Editor for TennisUpToDate.com has picked Tereza Valentova as a rogue pick.
This women’s Eastbourne Open title could go anywhere. That is the current sense in the women’s game in which it does not matter how good you are or high ranked, anyone is there for the taking.
Former Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini has to be in contention, but again the number one seed is in a very bad period of form. Whether she can find the tools to triumph or at least go on a deep run I am not so sure. The fact that Tatjana Maria is her opening match may not bode well for her.
Madison Keys has won this title twice and will be a big contender. If it was not for an injury last year, Barbora Krejcikova would have been the favourite to win the title with a number of top seed exiting early. Jelena Ostapenko and the forementioned Maria are all a candidate.
Reigning champion Maya Joint is not in title winning form. The same could be said for 2024 winner Daria Kasatkina. As an outside pick, I am going to hedge my bets with 19-year-old talent Tereza Valentova to pick up a maiden WTA title in Eastbourne. She has shown a lot of promise early in her career, and I think she has what it takes to get over the line.
*** Tereza Valentova
** Madison Keys, Tatjana Maria
* Jasmine Paolini, Jelena Ostapenko, Barbora Krejcikova
Cristhian Avila, Editor for TennisUpToDate.com has picked Barbora Krejcikova as champion on the south coast.
With the absence of top-ranked players, there are several names worth highlighting in the draw, including multiple former Grand Slam champions. In particular, the protagonists of the Wimbledon 2024 final—Jasmine Paolini and Barbora Krejcikova—will be present in Eastbourne, and at least the Czech player, former SW19 champion, is a firm candidate if she is physically fit.
Another player doing things well is Janice Tjen, with a different style that recalls Ash Barty and that can surprise anyone in the draw. The young players Sara Bejlek and Maya Joint also have credentials to make a strong showing in the week leading into Wimbledon.
*** Barbora Krejcikova
** Janice Tjen, Tatjana Maria
*Sara Bejlek, Maya Joint
