Trinity Rodman flew a staggering 24 hours to be by the side of her man, Ben Shelton as he won the title at the Stuttgart Open on Sunday. But if only she wasn't such a huge sporting star herself would Shelton perhaps keep her around all the time.
Rodman was on site when Shelton won the title in Dallas so it is the American football superstar who equals success for him and of course being his girlfriend, it is more likely to put a pep in his step so to speak.
She played a USWNT soccer game and then flew for 24 hours arriving in time for his semi-final game, Shelton had to play two games in a day due to weather and still went on to win the title on Sunday defeating Taylor Fritz.
"It's really cool having her here. Obviously she was playing for the US team against Brazil in Brazil a couple of nights ago so she flew here, a 24 hour trip so I really appreciate her coming," he said after his semi-final to Tennis Channel with a big beaming smile on his face after his semi-final.

A 24 hour flight to see Shelton win big

He also referenced her again after winning his final. A couple that win together in their professions and still show up for one another. Of course both also in sports where they spend very little time with each other as a result of being on the move all the time so Rodman certainly making it count.
"I wanna thank my girlfriend for flying here from Brazil. I won a title at, I think, every tournament that she's been at this year. You're definitely the lucky charm," he said on court referring to the Rodman effect of Shelton winning titles.
Winning 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 against Fritz, the title also meant a lot personally. “It means a lot to me," Shelton said in his on-court interview. "Certainly a difficult week, not an easy week to get through. I’m pretty exhausted, but to play the way I did against the quality of opponents I played in very tight matches and getting a win today against one of the best grass-court players in the world is a huge boost for my confidence. I’m just happy to get my first title here in Stuttgart.”
“A lot of stress. I didn’t make things easy on myself, but every guy that I played I thought played really well and made things really difficult,” Shelton added. “Taylor for a period of the match today was completely unplayable. So I’ve got to give a lot of credit to the guys I played. But for me, being tough and getting through the tough matches, day in and day out, is the first step to getting to where I want to be and being in the groove that I want to be in this grass-court season.”
He now stays in Germany to play Halle and will hope that Rodman sticks around to watch him there as he could win again.
